All old stuff isn't really that cheap anymore. You may have to consider readjusting your baseline upward by a couple Franklins. Two other items that may come into play are rarity, and popularity... Around here your best "bang for a buck" for a starter parade/hobby tractor is probably a Case VAC or even an SC, a mid size Massey Harris, or an Allis C or WC/WD. Why? (Here anyway) They don't have a cult following like those green or red tractors, but there were also several local dealers "back when" so the supply is there and the prices are fairly stable. Of course it still only takes 2 guys with more money than brains to turn any auction into a circus
