Fill up all the holes where they get in. They say to watch when the come and go at dusk, but I haven't found where that works. We were getting bats in our house, worst in the basement. I went around and plugged all holes, and plugged spaces that looked like holes. I even plugged things that looked like I could plug them, but we were getting bats in the basement. Incidentally my wife's favorite room is in the basement :-) At first I would get them with a broom, which was amusing to watch, because when I don't use a wheelchair, I use crutches, so after the first swing at those little soaring sonar so-and-so's I would be sitting on the floor in an unusual position swinging a broom like an idiot until I would hear a plop. Then my wife would pick me up and I would find the critter and put the finishing touches to it. Anyway, I was taking off the cedar siding from the house to replace it with vinyl siding in a 3 year project when I found the place they were getting in, complete with a sleeping bat. I put the finishing touches to that bat, and closed up the opening. It's been over 2 years and no bats.
