I would try using some epoxy paint on the floor. They make some specifically for garage floors, Lowe's, Home Depot or a store like that should have it. I did my 28'x44' basement with this type of paint and it took just two gal. to cover it. The paint is about $35-40 per gal. but compared to heavy plastic it should'nt be too much more and you won't bust your buns on the plastic. Just make sure you follow the instructions, clean the floor well and make sure you have good ventilation.
