Well, let's see here... My family bought an 89 Ford Taurus in '91 with around 30k miles on it (this could be any model or brand of car here). Always had the local Cenex store do the oil changes and they used their brand of 5W-30 oil. Oil and filter were changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles throughout the life of the car. We finally traded it off in '96 with 200,000 miles on it and it still did not use a drop of oil in 3,000 miles and had excellent power, made 30mpg. What is my point? With proper maintenance any engine will last a really long time without super lube snake oil. Look at these old tractors, they didn't even have detergent oil back then - and still they went 20 to 40 years without an overhaul. Steven
