I believe that if you keep the same generator you will need to keep it positive ground. If you change over to an alternator it will be negative ground. I changed my Allis to an alternator because I could buy one and have it rewired cheaper than I could get the old generator rebuilt, as it had serious problems. I also am of the opion that an alternator is more trouble free and reliable. One drawback would be that it is no longer truly original. Sid
