Not sure what the problem is, but maybe some of you International lovers may be able to shed some light on this. We have a 3514 Diesel Hydrostatic Drive International tracor (Not sure what year, I will have to ask my pops). We were using the backhoe to dig a few holes in the back yard, and it just made a sqeauling noise and then stalled. We thought for sure that the engine was seizing due to the sqeauling. (he had changed the oil a few days before, and if I recall right, he mentioned something about the oil pressure or oil not filling the oil filter properly) I beleive it managed to fix itself, because he wouldnt have been using it if the oil was not being circulated. But that next day is when this happened. He dropped the oil pan and noticed a few BIG rocks in the pan. "Must have been in there for years", he said. He inspected the bearings and they were fine. He cleaned the pan and removed the excess oil buildup and re-installed the pan (replacing the oil of course). The backhow still didn't start. We emptied the hydraulic lines holding the how in the back so we could raise the hoe to be able to pull the tracor out of my back lawn to be worked on. We noticed that the hydraulic fluid was like a milky substance. (I'm not sure if it is supposed to be like that) They managed to pull the tractor out of my lawn about 50 feet and then couldn't do anything else with it. They were pretty stumped about the whole situation since it has never given them problems before and my father is a pretty good mechanic and has maintained it for so long. They said something about the hydraulics and mumbled that it might not be worth fixing. Needless to say, my pops went out and bought a Kobutta. (It just doesnt beat the international!) Does anyone have any input on what might be the problem and what could be done to fix it? (It is still in my back yard! I want to get rid of it or have it fixed!) Or if anyone is interested in buying it, let me know! Thanks. Aaron

Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
