I'm not sure if there's a good reason not to have shorter lengths, but Ford has a cat 1 top link that is about 12-14 inches long. That's the shortest factory one I've ever seen. It is used on the smaller tractors with a finish mower so it will hook up to the top link extension on the mower to 'float'(?) better. I have a 1520 with a 931(?) finish mower that has one. The only other place I've ever seen one of these was hanging on the wall at my local Ford dealer. Bob
