two crazy fixes come to mind here.local ford dealer got a ford pickup intrade that had a miss did a compression test and found no pressure in # 7 pulled the head and what do you know a wooden post driven in there a busted cylinder was the problem.next one comes from my father in law.they had a 549 in an international silage truck and during the heat of the battle they lost a rod . they pulled the pan took what was left of the rod and pushed it up and against cyl. wall then welded it there. they then plugged the oil gallery on crank put the pan on and drove it for three more years.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
