Dad had one of these with the arched lift arms on a 1948 JD M. He bought the tractor new the year I was born, it was the only brand new tractor he had until he bought a new JD 630 in 1959, then a 2010 and 46a loader in 1963. He traded in the JD M and loader for it. It was a great loader for for it's time. The color was a very deep red, darker than IH red. The local New Idea dealer was the Co-op(Farm Bureau Cooperative), the Co-ops were strong equipment dealers in the Central Indiana area at the time. Most of my early years driving a tractor were divided between the "little John Deere" and a CO-OP (Cockshutt) E-3. Dad and the hired hands got to drive the JD A's, G's and Cockshutt 40. Anyway the Horn/New Idea loader had a great lift capacity, if you got hold of something really fastened to the ground you could raise one rear wheel off the ground in a static lift. The JD M had live hydraulics (rare at the time) and they were rather strong and trouble free (I recall dad had fitted a larger tank and an extra valve). This is a little off track but you brought back some great memories, thanks.
