Based on my research on Cases, I've believe that Case went to a foot clutch in late '53 on the "S" & "D" series & the new number series that they introduced about the same time. They also kept hand clutches on the big standards that they sold as wheatland & riceland models. I THINK the "V" and "VA" series always had foot clutches, as I have a '41 VC that has a foot clutch, and '41 was only the 2nd or 3rd year they made that series. I've got a '44 SC w/hand clutch & a '54 SC w/foot clutch. (Production #'s I've seen indicate that only 1,135 S series were built w/foot clutches.) My BIL has a '53 DC w/both brakes on the right side, but it has a hand clutch. We think that its one that was made early in that model year, as we've seen very few other '53's w/hand clutches and all the '54's we've ever seen have foot clutches. BTW, the "C" designation after the model letter on the Case letter series indicates a row crop model. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
