The 986 and smaller tractors are overbuilt for the power they put out. I have a pile over 5' tall of bull gears in the parts building. If I were to stack the stacks together. The 1086's live very good and the 1486's are OK if if you don't turn the pumps up. The 1586's are off different design. The number one problem with the IH transmissions is people dropping them in park and knocking teeth off of the park gear.
