Depending on a lot of things, (overall condition, hours, tires, paint, wheather or not the TA works, ect.), the average price for a 986 should be around $13,000, but for some reason, 986's and 3688's bring a little more than you think they would. There seems to be a good demand for them. Anyway, they are not underbuilt and the trans/rear end hold up well. Other good choices from IH in and around the horsepower range you are looking for are the 806, 1206, 856, 1256, 826, 766, 966, 1066, 786, 886, 1086, 3088, 3288, and 3688.
