I've always tarped my tractors for outside winter storage but not directly on the tractor metal. Get yourself some 2X4's and fabricate some sort of a frame in and/or around the tractor. You might even be able to attatch it temporarily to the tractor frame, etc. Then tarp it with a polytarp and lace it down to rims, frame, axles, etc. Make sure that there is a high point or a peak near the top so the snow and rain doesn't accumulate or puddle. Works great as long as it's long-term storage and you are not using or moving the tractor.
