Check your air hood, the tunnel that vents the cooling air over the cylinder fins. You will likely find that an air restriction has caused the tractor to get hot. In fact, if the restriction is localized, it won't get the oil hot enough for it to register on the guage. this can happen VERY quickly. chances are you have melted a chunk out of one of your cylinder walls and/or piston, which means you will have to replace a jug, and piston.

I have had customers who didn't check to keep the air hood clean, and a rat had built a nest aganst one of the cylnders...........Melted a chunk out of the cylinder wall the size of a quarter.
