All the Duramax outselling the Cummins tells me is that a lot of Chevy and GMC fans were waiting for GM to come out with a diesel that could go toe to toe with a Cummins or Powerstroke. I know several GM guys that went to Dodges simply because they wanted a powerful and reliable diesel, which GM couldn't provide. Now that there is one (kind of), they're going back to the General. My uncle was one of these guys. He's always had Chevys and GMCs, including a '93 GMC 1-ton 4WD with the 6.5 turbo and a five speed. After getting consistently beat in races and outpulled by my '92 Dodge heavy-duty 3/4 ton with a Cummins and auto, he saw the light and went to a '98 and now an '02 Dodge. I see far more Ford and Chevy guys switching to Dodge than the other way around. I've heard more than one guy say that if he could get the Allison auto behind a Cummins (in any brand of pickup), he would buy one in a heartbeat. Face the facts - aluminum has no place as a material for the head of a diesel engine, and the Cummins is simply the best engine out there. I also notice that you don't comment about how Chevy and Ford used bigger engines for all those years to compete with that little old straight-6 Cummins. There is more potential in that Cummins than the Powerstroke or Duramax combined, and I'm not just talking about hot-rodding the engines. Just talk to someone that is familiar with the marine versions of the 6BTA5.9s that are rated in excess of 400 horsepower in boats.

I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
