I have a 1976 2440. It has the two stick shifter. If one shifts "just right" between I and R or I and II, sometime it will shift without grinding. IfYou shift it to neutral and THE try and shift into ANY range, it grinds. I think that these things are NOT very well syncronized. I dont have any difficulty shifting between 1-2-3-4, so I think that those selections ARE synchronized. All in all, I think that the quality of the TSS trannie is somehing short of being as good as even an 8speed Waterloo syncrorange, let alone powershift of quadrange. If you throttle it WAY back, sometimes it is easier to shift between gear ranges. At least that is how it is with my 2440.
