The 14.5 tires aren't anything unusual, they are the tires used on mountable rims. Don't try to use mobile home tires, use equipment trailer tires. They cost about $48 each in 8.00 by 14.5 12 ply. Also, don't expect a tire store that sells you the size tire they have rather than the tire you need to know what a 14.5 tire is. You will have to go to a real tire dealer to find them. Ask your local police department and State Police if the axles are legal. I'm building an equipment trailer using mobile home axles, and I was wondering the same question about using the axles so I went to a large old tractor show near here and checked factory made trailers against home made trailers with mobile home tires, and I could only see the difference was in the HD tires compared to tires marked mobile home only. I've had trailer questions and asked the Secretary of State license department, who is in charge of the laws, and they said they didn't know, that I would have to ask the police department. Since they are the ones you will be dealing on a one on one basis you are probably best asking the police. I would be anxious to know what you find if you do. Even if they say they don't know. Sometimes the only reason they will stop you is if you have a light out, just because they are having a bad day and want to spread the cheer.

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
