Hi Farmboy, I've used MH axles from the 1970's for 30yrs without problems. I've never been stopped for just the trailer and no ones hassled me about it. Some of the newer MH axles are pretty cheap made as others have said. My son was stopped for a DOT inspection, commerical sod farm, and got written for weather checked tires on their trash trailer, not MH tires/axles. What was interesting was they didn't have to pay a fine if they had the trailer reinspected with adaquote tires. The fine was about the cost of new tires. I was checking on new axles from Big Tex Trailers about 3 months ago. New 5200lb brake axle $189eh less tires and rims. 7500lb--$225, 9000lb---$249 New dual wheel 10000lb brake axle with mounting hardware, $1100/pr, no tires or rims. T_Bone
