I've always been a bit afraid to solder a rad myself and probably too cheap to take the rad to a shop. I've used JB weld twice and it's worked well. Obviously the rad has to be drained and dry, then I'll use an acid solution to clean up the repair area then clean well with water. Dry it off good (use a head gun on low or a hair dryer), then brush in a good quantity of JB Weld and warm it up again with a heat gun and the JB gets a bit runny and starts to flow. You'll have to keep tilting the rad to make sure the runny JB stays where you want it. Both of my repairs worked but I don't know what I would have done if it had still leaked after the JB set up, maybe try another layer of the stuff.
