Help, please don't try welding pits on a cast iron manifold with anything. For most welders this would only result in a cracked manifold from too much heat, not to mention the fact that most old manifolds have been heated and cooled so many times in there lives that they are mostly brittle carbon hunks. Live with the pits or spend the bucks for a new manifold. I'm not telling you that a manifold can't be fixed by welding but only by an experinced welder who knows to pre and post heat and read the metal as he works.
