These stories are tragic and I feel for the victims' families, but they are not "accidents". Each could have been prevented by common sense and taking an extra moment to consider the consequences of the situation. My best friend was nearly killed in a tractor rollover about 13 years ago, but he knew that his mistake is what caused it. A few years ago, he was killed when a grain bin seam split and the grain threw him against the auger and buried him. That was a true farm accident, because he was doing everything right and never had an inkling that something could happen. The extra second you take to think things through, even when in a hurry, is the second that could save your life.
