Hydraulics primer

If any of you are new to hydraulic systems and
care to see a system where all the parts are
easily visible go down to your Home Depot (or
whatever) and take a look at a log splitter. Everything is there in plain sight : engine,
hydraulic pump, spool control valve, cylinder
etc. A few months ago I wouldn't have known what the
parts did or were called, but yesterday it was
kind of neat to recognize the different parts
and be able to see how the thing worked. I liked
the oil tank in the big frame cross member. The only thing missing was a motor...

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
