You're not wrong to think that parts can be cheaper at the dealer a lot of times. I recently got a price on a gasket set for a JD "B" for a guy. Deere's price - around $45. Price from an aftermarket/antique outfit - $90. Too many people assume that just because a business specializes in these parts that they're going to cut them the best deal, and usually they're wrong. There's also the fact that your local dealer is generally going to be there in more ways than one - such as with technical help and so on.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet).
