I gave up on Chevy and Ford when looking for a 3/4 ton. I wanted to get better mileage than 11 to 14 I got with my old Chevy gasser. Bought a Dodge w/Cummins 3/4T, large cab, short box, 4WD auto, 4:10. On a vacation thru Nova Scotia, PEI last summer after break in, I averaged 25.43 mpg. That was essentially empty with 2 people and luggage, and we didn't burn up the asphalt going thru the countryside. I don't get that on a commute (around 18 to 19) but it's nice to know that it is capable of great mileage. And I don't have to worry about commuting mileage after the end of the year. My company is trying to downsize themselves to greatness (how does that work?!) and after 30 years of service, they are going to finance the next year + of my life with a voluntary severance package (I wasn't going to hang around for the involuntary phase that is coming after the first of the year) while I finish restoring my Super M and look for the right piece of farm land!
