Recently tore down the sons 91 Chevy 1500 half ton 4 WD transfer case and found the mode fork almost completely worn out. Stopped at local GM dealer to pickup clutch fork pivot pin which I had called in for price ($16+)....parts man said that he made a mistake on price....it was $61. I took the part knowing that I needed it....but went to the internet for the $115 mode fork. Found it in Tulsa, Okla. (good used) for $34 (with new plastic pads on it), $6/UPS. Part came monday....and it looks new to me! Good parts, good service and readily corresponded by email. I didn't use plastic, sent postal money order as advised on this board. I believe in comparing both parts...they were made by same mfg. at 1/3 the cost of the local dealer. Anyone wanting the email address of this fellow can get same by emailing me. Also after comparing the clutch pivot pin with the new one....I could have pulled old one and made a 1/16" washer to shim it out with....(it was worn about .055") and put it back in. The reason it was worn so was there is a zerk fitting on passenger side of the bellhousing to grease it, (lack of grease). Whens the last time you greased yours? Or did you know it is there. Required tractor content....He can use the half ton instead of the ton truck for pulling the tractor. I'm not affiliated with this dealer in any way....just had a money saving experience. L8R....Fred OH

My current collection includes a 1938 F20, 1945 H, 1946 H, and the recently purchased 1951 H. This article will focus on what I encountered and what I did to bring the 1951 NEAR DEATH Farmall H back to life. ... [Read Article]
