The Ford flathead V-8 is being reproduced. You can get new blocks and crankshafts (other parts are readily available). I think the blocks are out of France. Building rods and dragsters using the flathead V-8 is becoming a popular sport. Put a blower and do some porting work on on of these and they turn into a monster. I have read a book on the subject and they will put out over 400 hp. and torque to go with it. The problem with an L-head engine is breathing. Once you put a blower on it that problem is overcome. I wonder if anyone out there has any first hand knowledge of this.
