I drive the same pu you're thinking about getting. 02 2500 HD 6.0 4wd auto standard cab. I think it gets about 12 mpg most of the time. I always bought 3/4 tons with the 3.73 gears. Gave me about 1/2 mpg over the 4.10. But Chevy doesn't offer the 3.73 gears anymore. I don't often have to trailer anything but I do carry a lot. It sure does pull good though. Pulls my 2N Ford on the bobcat trailer real easy. When you put it into Tow/Haul mode mileage will drop to 10 or 11. I also have the piston slap or whatever it is when you start it up. Sounds like a lifter. I asked the dealer about it twice and they just say it's normal. Only have about 27K miles on it so far so we'll see. The metal on the bed is real flimsey. I walked on the top of the bed rails when I first bought it and dented them. No other complaints here.
