I found my owner's manual for the H and the oil drain plug for the engine is near the center of the tractor, under the crankcase, and under the oil filter, and in front of the oil pump. The transmission filter is near the back of the tractor around the drawbar. Above the oil drain plug on the left side of the tractor, and near the bottom of the flywheel is a petcock you open, and you pour new oil in the oil fill until oil begins to come out the petcock, then you close the petcock. I remember my H, I had changed the transmission oil when I first got the tractor and bought a power takeoff assmebly for it. A couple years later I was checking it, and removed the plug from the side of the transmission and iol flowed out. I looked in the top of the transmission and it was full to the top. I drained the transmission and water came out for a very long time before oil came out. It had almost 9 gallons of water under the oil. This surprised me because I always kept the tractor inside. By the way, I noticed that I wrote the serial number in the manual, it was 45944, and the manual cost $1.25 from the John Deere dealer around 1972. What are they now?
