This truck is a 1/2 ton with the 305ci motor all the heater doors are cable actuated and are all in working order I pulled the core access cover off and there were a few leaves and pine needles blocking it but shouldn't have been enough to cause a problem, the core looks like it's brand new from the outside, don't know about the inside. there is no mixing valve in the heater hose, the coolant comes directly from the cylinder head to the core and then back to the radiator, you can see the flow coming back to the rad when looking down into the rad, it's not gushing but seems steady. The temp guage seems to be working, but what I have found is that when you first start the truck from a cold state the temp will rise to about 240 deg. then apparently the thermostat opens and she'll drop down to about 295deg. and maintain that temp. I was thinking of putting some holes in the fan shroud (that I can plug in the summertime)to lessen the amount of air that the fan pulls through the radiator. What do ya'll think.
