I can get between 18 and 20mpg. I think the top was 24 one time when I was very careful about my lead foot.
On mine anyway new plugs and wires were very rewarding, went from 15-16 to 17-18. The K&N airfilter made another 1-2mpg difference. Synthetic lubricants in the transfercase help it shift into 4wd better, but I suspect the newer trucks have a different system.
