Ron..........yep, its a pretty good bet that you've got a rusted shut engine, probably from an leaky headgasket. I wouldn't take the head off until I got the rings unstuck because the stuck rings could lift the cylinder sleeves without the head to hold'em down. Here's what I'd do. Pour about 1/4 cup of white vinegar in each sparkie hole. Vinegar eats rust, big time. Lett'er set fer bout week. Everyday walk by and give a big rock'n back'n forth on one of those big ol'rear tires with tranny in high. At end of week, try barring the front 1-5/16 crown pulley nut (its suppost to be 150 ft/lbs). If not free, top off the vinegar treatment again 'cuz most of its been leaked down past the ringgaps ennyways. I've seen some nasty rust-stuck machinery un-stuck that way. Trying to spin yer stuck engine is good way to burnout a $250 startermotor. Water Displacement formula #40, (WD-40) don't do squatt to rust. Congratulations, you just re-discovered the principle of differentials, spin one tire foward the other will automatically turn the opposite direction. I've never known of any internally cracked 8N blocks, freeze cracked on leftside outside of block yes. BTW........full rebuilt 8N parts kit including new sleeves and pistons and rings and bearings and gaskets and etc.......$450-500.........Dell (WA) who thinks its worth your time and money to rebuild yer Daddy's 8N

My model "H" even had the old style fronts with plenty of tread. My "L" fronts were mismatched Sears Guardsman snow tires, which I promptly tossed. Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on
