I've had three, all with the six, and my dad still has his 93 with the 318. 250K miles on it. He has pulled a 22' Starcraft and a 21' Whaler no problem, and he leaves it in overdrive. He has the new 4.7L in his Durango, and likes it a lot. I have it in my new Ram and have towed my tractor around with no problems. Great motor, but I am not a big fan of the v-8's in a Dakota. Truck cannot handle capabilities of the engine. They are a great designed truck, and very ruggedly built. Those new quad cabs have lots of room, but at the price you pay for them, you might as well buy a Ram. IMHO They are gas pigs though, but comparable to all the competitors models. If you like it, go for it, they are great little trucks.
