Washing soda and baking soda will both work. If
you have a meter on your battery charger keep
adding the stuff to the water until you get a
reasonable current (2-3 amps works for me).

Don't be surprised if the process takes off a lot
of paint. This should be paint that would have
come off anyway eventually. Where the paint is
in good condition the electrolysis won't touch it.
