Broken distributor housing

I bought a dist. kit and a video and went to work rebuilding the dist. Everything seemed to be going fine, even got a test light and checked the points for open/close, and shorts. All "OK". Put the dist. back on the tractor and tried to start it and was getting no spark. Pulled the Dist. again and noticed that the dist. cap was partially pushed off. Inside, the rotor was messed up and had gouged the inside of the dist. cap. I figure the little tabs on the Dist. hadn't lined up with the slots inside the engine housing, but the dist. seemed to go on fine when I put it on. Now I have a crack in the cast distributor housing. Can I buy the houseing without having to buy the entire distributor?
