hi I hope I can explain the stating of a Bulldog. In german I can. Bulldogs have never been started by "Zuend-fix". They had a hot bulb-nose, like Landini, Le Percheron, Vierzon o the Ursus C-45, which was Lanz-licensed. You have to make fire under the nose by using a special tool, called "Loetlampe", when the nose was enough hot, you had to put the steering-wheel into the belt-pulley on the left hand of the tractor and penduled it, till the piston makes one round, with luck, tractor started.... or not, You have to try again. Later bullogs are started on petrol, and run further with Diesel. The "Zuend-fix" is not made from paper. It is made from Cotton injected with a special fluid. You have to use it today at the older walk behinds with Diesel engine. As I know the british Marshall was started with a cartrige, like You use in guns. The bigger watercooled Deutz had a "Compressed air starter" Bernhard, Derichsweiler, Germany
