Park your unit on some concrete, get a spring scale and attach it to a lever fixed to the steering wheel at a distance from the steering shaft center of one, two, three, etc. FEET (we're dealing with FOOT/pounds) and pull on it whilst reading the scale. If you used a 2 ft. lever the divide the reading by 2 to obtain ft/lbs, 3 - divide by three and so forth. The product is the force required to turn the steering shaft. Knowing this, you can figure the force at any of the steering linkage elements. Since you haven't finished the tractor yet use the same method on the kinginpin itself; double the results if you have more than one front tire. Oh, don't forget to add in a little 'chuck-hole/furrow' factor!
