Sounds like a model 621 all right. Power assist steering was an available option for the 621, as well as an auxillary transmission.

You have the Sherman Reversing Transmission, also known as the Sherman Forward and Reverse Transmission, not the Sherman Combination Transmission. The Reversing transmission works as you describe. The Combination transmission is an over / direct / under transmission that triples the number of gear ratios available to the operator.
