The small buckets, with two wooden handles, were called slips. They were pulled by horses and the handles were really close to the ground. They are about two feet wide. A Fresno was about five feet wide and had one metal handle in the center. It had runners, it ran on, when it was raised up, to empty. I think they originally were pulled by horses. Dad had a Fresno and I used to drive the tractor as he operated the Fresno.
