I wouldn't cover it at all. I cover my tractor with a blue poly tarp when it's sitting next to the house waiting for its next job, but that's only because I don't have a shed to park it in. When the wind blows (simulating what would happen if it were being hauled down the highway on a trailer) the tarp whips and moves such that it wears the paint right off wherever it touches. Not a big deal with me because mine is not a show tractor. A softer material wouldn't be tough enough to take the abuse IMO. You might be able to get a custom tarp maker to custom fit a cover that fits snug and won't let any air underneath while in motion, but it could be costly. If you're trying to minimize damage from flying rocks while hauling, I would consider a covered trailer or at least a V shield in front to keep road debris from cracking your headlights or pitting the paint on your grille.
