I was complaining to my mechanic friend about the short life of the battery in my Ford 3910. It lasted about 2 years. He said he had a ground disconnect on all his tractors and his batterys would last 5 years. This is a device with a knob that goes on the ground wire. When he parks the tractor overnight, he simply screws the knob and it keeps the battery from losing power. Also is useful in keeping old equipment from shorting out and burning the barn down. He said it cost about $12 from mail order, but he could not tell me where he had ordered from. I called the local parts place and they did not know anything about ground disconnects except for something that folks used on tractor trailers. Does anyone know where to get these ground disconnects?
