I started on tractors at age 4. The major point that you have to stress is respect for machinery and what it can and can't do. I started off on a farmall super a, this is a great starter machine, fairly easy steering on level ground, easy pedals, and a good, safe operators platform. I do not recommend any tractors where you have to straddle the transmission and your feet are on little running boards. Another reason I recommend a super a is there is a good drawbar you can stand on where you can reach the throttle and the shutoff button easily if need be.
