If you are refering to the b/w picture on page 37, that tractor is not a 5010. I think it might be easier to ID if it had the original muffler, but I'm calling it a 4020. I'd say it has an M&W turbo kit in it and likely has 125+hp.(Note the straight pipe) It has the rowcrop fenders and the rowcrop wfe. The hood sheet metal is also appropriate for a 4020. I also think it is a pre 1969 model. Other objections to photos in this book:(Courtesy of the correct police). Note the decal location on the 2510 tractor (top, pg 25). The forward location is where that decal goes on a CAB tractor. The LP 4020 on page 32 is also wrongly decaled. Does anyone think the hicrop 4020 on page 33 really has just 96hp, with that chrome stack and all? I bet it has an M&W turbo kit in it. My personal view is that tractors, photographed for books, and intended to be "examples" should at least be "correct" in every detail, or else what is not correct should be noted. While putting decals in the wrong places is fine, if it is your personal tractor, using one that is wrong and calling it "right" seems to be a case of BEGGING for people to criticise your tractor, and many people who are looking for "correct" examples will see the mistakes and assume that "this is how it should look" Many of the incorrectly decaled and equipped tractors in this book are very pretty and quite attractive! I would be happy owning just about any of them, but as sterling examples of what the tractor looked like as it came from the factory, too many of them are not very good examples, which is too bad since I am sure that correct pictures could have been found just as easily. Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
