You need live pto, slow reverse gear, and match the width of cut to the hp. As the others, I can't say enough, you need a slow reverse gear! Blowers tend to take a lot of ground along if the ground is not frozen up, since you mentioned soft ground. You can adjust the skids & angles on some of them better than others. Auger style makes a differece, you do not want a solid auger for slushy snow, it will pack solid. Slushy snow is tough for any blower. The hard-packed stuff you will need a well-built blower, with a good strong auger(s) with strong bearings and a very good drive system. Then the tractor will need a _lot_ of traction, front wheel assist would be best, but your blower must be built very strong to take this kind of pressure! The 3-point hookup points & the cross auger must be strong. A bit of an agressive auger design will help, some teeth to it a bit. Very slow reverse is the best, allow that auger to chew the lumps apart. Not all blowers are built the same, but many will do what you want. Some will not. Only run the blower at rated pto speed. Faster makes it break more, it does not make it blow better. Blowers are a high-maintenence item, you'll get to know a good welding shop... Your tractor needs the traction, power, and slow reverse to make it all work right. --->Paul
