Isn't it amazing how something so simple can turn into a big mess. You might as well do a valve job since the head is off. Before you run out and look for a used head try cutting the piece out with a cutting torch. If you are quick the thread piece will cut before the cast iron head.I have also broken a plug off , it gives you a instant real bad feeling. The old VW's were famous for plug problems. Thy would just strip out the threads. I have done that a time or two also. Stan
