David, I don't have my manual here at the house, but you can call 1-800-522-7448 with your credit card and tell them that you need SM-2013, which is the service manual for the 40. The 420 service manual (SM-2019) refers you back to the 40 service manual (get both if you can afford them). While you're at it, I'd recommend PC-505, which is the 420-430 parts catalog. You'll need to know the type and serial number of your 420 to order the correct owner's manual.
