Hi, I did 6 years in the USN from 1995 to 2001. Like other guys have stated, I thought I hated it until I got out. Now that I have been out for two years I seem to miss it. But I also realize you tend to remember the good times and not so much the bad. I was a Nuclear Reactor Operator on a fast attack submarine(USS Helena SSN 725). Nothing like a good fire on a 360 foot boat at a few hundred feet below the waterline. But I have hundreds of good expiriences too. For instance, the Navy paid for most of my degree which I was able to get while I was in, B.S. Nuclear Eng. Tech. So all in all it was definitely worth it to me. Plus I met my wife while I was in!!! Good-Luck!!! P.S. Make sure you get any promises in writing!!! Nothing in the military counts unless it is in writing!!!This can be the most important thing to remember when talking to a recruiter. Every recruiter embellishes a little, else who in there right mind would ever join for what they pay you!!!
