We are not working on air craft here. If this was a plane engine I would say by all means go first class. Some times it is not dollar possible to go first rate. I had to pound a piston out of my perkins diesel because of water and rust. I would have been glad to replace everything new, but was on a budget. I honed it to death and there were still pits I installed new rings. and hundreds of hours later still going strong, I dont consider this a wast of time.My two cents
