Glenn, I think your missing the point of this site. It's for antique tractors. When these were designed by JD, IHC, MM, etc. they knew farmers would be the main repairmen. That's why they had shims in the bearings, adjustments for oil pumps, etc. Parts wear but don't always need to be factory set or better. Sometimes farmers had to make the repairs out in the cornfield. So not everything can be perfectly round and perfectly straight. As Unimog said it's not really always the right way to do it, but the repair works and lasts at an affordable price. Sleeving or boring an engine can be very costly and sometimes the parts aren't even made any more. The "shade tree" mechanic many times knows a lot more then you think.
