Find year from castings or detail plate under bonnet or whatever. Go to, or ring, your Local Vehicle Licensing Office and they will be able to help you with the appropriate forms.
Join NVTEC and you will probably save your first subscription using their registering help service, if you find the original number and want to use that.
If it was never registered and you want to use it on the road, you can simply register it now and maybe ask for an age-related number.
