Have Fun gave you ALMOST all the info you need... Take your PICTURE ID...Here in VT, drivers license with picture is still optional...Take another picture ID if you have it...Passport is not required, but it is a good thing to have...At the very least carry a NOTARIZED copy of your Birth Certificate...without the seal it is just another peice of paper to the Canadians... GET A CANADIAN PROOF OF INSURANCE CARD!!! You can get this easily in the mail by calling your insurance agent...You do not need it to get into Canada...But have an accident without it (your US card is useless!) and you will be in jail (mandatory!) till someone from stateside delivers or sends a copy of the Canadian proof card!!! If you have EVER had a DWI/DUI...don't even THINK of crossing the border...You will not be allowed in if they find out...If they ask, and you lie about it and they know on their screen, you will be arrested and then deported (vehicle confiscation is a maybe)...If you are asked and you admit it they will detain you till someone comes for you...You will not be allowed to drive away...Even if you are a passenger, they do not want you in Canada... Remember!...When you pull up to that booth, you are already on foreign soil! Too late at that point... Sincerely Submitted By Salmoneye: Who has crossed the border for decades and seen it get tighter and tighter...
